Why We're Starting Griffy's Art Supply
When I think of Bloomington, I think of Sample Gates, Nick’s, Little 500, local breweries, quarries, and, of course, art. Like many in this community I want to live in a town that has a local art store—a place that champions the creative spirit and fosters creativity in our community.
I pursued my MFA to help lead students to great discoveries, both professional and incredibly personal. This new mission is no different. To say that art played a major role in shaping who I am today would be a vast understatement. We’re building Griffy’s Art Supply to provide the highest quality tools for students and the community alike.
During the course of my creative training, I came to rely on having a local art store. It was the place I could pick up material or discover a new tool. I entered each project with confidence knowing I had the tools that would support my work.
Practicing art allows people the space to explore ideas through the process of making, iteration, trial, and error. For many, art is meditative and, for others, it is a way to connect with people and cultures. This is the power of art and a strong art community.
While our lives and the way we create art might be changing, so must the way we deliver quality tools to artists. With Griffy’s, we’re going to be ensuring students and the community can get expert advice and quality materials in a safe way. We’ll be continuing to adapt our processes and inventory to best meet the needs of Bloomington’s community of artists. And, of course, we’ll continue to champion for your creativity along the way.
Here’s to a new era and I am excited for you to be a part of it.
Cheers,
